Connecting ChatSEO to Webflow

Link your Webflow site to ChatSEO to publish articles to a CMS collection, as drafts or live.

ChatSEO publishes the articles it writes straight to a CMS collection of your Webflow site, as a draft or live, and updates them when you rework them.

What ChatSEO can access

When you connect Webflow, you authorise the ChatSEO app on the Webflow sites you pick. It asks for:

  • Sites (read): to list your sites and check the one you connect is yours;
  • CMS (read and write): to read your collections and create or update articles in them;
  • Authorized user (read): to show which Webflow account is connected.

ChatSEO never edits your Designer, your pages or your custom code. It writes items in the collection you link, and adds an SEO title or meta description field to it only if you ask it to.

Connect your site

  1. Click your profile in the bottom left corner, then Settings.
  2. Under Workspace, open Sites and pick the site.
  3. Open the Technical tab, then under Where to publish click the Webflow tile.
  4. Check the domain of your Webflow site and click Connect Webflow.
  5. On Webflow, select the site and click Authorize App.

You come back to ChatSEO with Webflow connected. If you cancel on Webflow, nothing is connected and you can start again at any time.

Under CMS collections, click Configure on the collection your articles live in, usually your blog posts. Then map:

  • the article content field (Rich text), required;
  • the SEO title and meta description fields (Plain text), if you have them. If you don't, ChatSEO can create them in the collection for you;
  • the featured image field (Image), if you want one.

If the collection has other required fields, ChatSEO fills them for you: the title, an excerpt, the content, the featured image or the publication date, depending on the field. For a reference or option field, such as an author or a category, you pick the default value once. Click Link collection to save.

Webflow has no built-in SEO fields for CMS items. To use the SEO title and meta description ChatSEO writes, bind those fields once in the SEO settings of your collection template page.

Publish an article

Once a collection is linked, the Publish button appears in the article editor. Pick the collection, then Publish live or Save as draft. An article already published shows Update (live) and Update (draft): it is updated in place, never duplicated. View on Webflow opens it on your site.

You can also ask ChatSEO in the chat: it shows you what it is about to publish and waits for your approval.

Disconnect

In the Webflow tile, click Disconnect Webflow. ChatSEO revokes its access in Webflow straight away. The articles already published stay on your site.
