What's your main goal?

TL;DR – Our Outrank Review for 2026

Outrank (outrank.so) is an SEO agent on autopilot: it analyzes your site, plans 30 days of content, writes articles in your brand voice and publishes them automatically to your CMS. The promise is huge. Does it hold up?

The short verdict:

  • Who it's for → creators and brands who want to publish content at volume without spending time on it
  • Price → a single plan at $99/month for 30 articles/month
  • Strength #1fully automated publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify… genuinely works (fast connection)
  • Strength #2 → onboarding that scrapes your business context well (offer, audience, differentiators)
  • Weakness #1keyword selection: too much informational, no buying intent, sometimes off-topic → traffic, but little revenue
  • Weakness #2risky backlink exchange, low-grade AI images, weak titles, support and cancellation flagged in reviews (G2 4.2/5, Trustpilot 3.8/5)

In one line: Outrank delivers on its marketing promise (blog on autopilot) but lacks SEO intelligence where it matters. If you want a tool that targets revenue rather than just a traffic curve, try ChatSEO for free (no credit card) - and get -20% via the link.

What is Outrank?

Outrank is an SEO platform that positions itself as an autonomous agent that writes and publishes content "without you doing anything." The flow:

  1. You add your domain → Outrank analyzes your site
  2. It generates a 30-day content plan and an SEO content score
  3. It writes articles in your brand voice, with on-brand images, table of contents, CTA and embedded YouTube videos
  4. It publishes automatically to your CMS: WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Wix, Notion, Framer, webhook…
  5. Optionally, it joins a backlink exchange between platform customers

On paper the promise is, as the reviewer puts it, "insane": a blog that runs itself. The real question isn't does it publish - it does - but does it actually make money in the end.

How Outrank works: a real-world test

We tested Outrank hands-on, live, unprepared, on a real site. Here's how it goes, step by step.

Onboarding: solid business-context scraping

After starting the trial, you add your site and Outrank scans everything. Pleasant surprise: it correctly captures the business model, services offered, differentiation factors and key problems solved. It's thorough and well done.

You then validate:

  • Target audience and competitors (decent, though not always your top competitors)
  • Sitemap and best articles (connecting Google Search Console is recommended)
  • Autopublish mode, article style, 3 internal links/article, branding, images, table of contents, YouTube video, emojis…

⚠️ One onboarding gripe: Outrank scrapes your business model but still asks you to manually enter your brand colors and some details it could infer. For an "all-automatic" tool, that's a bit paradoxical.

WordPress connection: fast and clean

Installing the WordPress plugin (install → activate → paste the key → publish directly) is genuinely fast. Good experience here. Note: free-trial accounts don't take part in the backlink exchange.

Generation: budget 8–10 minutes

Building the content strategy takes the advertised 8–10 minutes. It feels long in the moment but is acceptable if quality follows. Spoiler: that's where it gets complicated.

Outrank pricing: what does it cost?

ItemDetail
PlanA single plan
Price$99/month
Volume30 articles/month (1 per day)
IncludedBacklinks, embedded YouTube videos, 150+ languages
Trial3 days for $1 = 3 articles to test
Discount-20% from 20 sites and up

At $99 for 30 articles, that's ~$3.30/article. If the promise holds and the articles convert, it's not expensive. If not… it's a budget spent on content that doesn't convert.

Outrank's real weak spot: keyword selection

This is the issue. Keyword choice determines absolutely everything the tool produces afterward. And this is where Outrank disappoints.

In testing, the planner mostly returned informational keywords: "how to rank on Google first page", "what is position zero", definitions… sometimes on completely off-topic subjects (math keywords for an… SEO site). The problems:

  • No buying intent → people searching those don't want to buy
  • Too much competition → high-authority sites a young domain can't outrank
  • No future → these queries are now swallowed by AI Overviews and ChatGPT, answered in 2 seconds

Yes, Outrank will very likely lift your traffic and impressions curve in Search Console. But informational traffic with no intent is clicks going up and revenue staying flat. For a beginner who sees "it published everything by itself, amazing," the trap is total: it works on the surface, not for the business.

You can re-prompt Outrank ("I only want business-intent keywords") and it then produces something decent. But let's be honest: the beginner doesn't know to do that. If you're sold an "everything is automatic" tool and end up driving keyword research yourself… the promise cracks.

The quality of published articles

On the generated article ("Google first page: complete 2026 guide"), the picture is mixed:

  • Good search intent on that specific topic, decent structure, table of contents present
  • Infographics to illustrate: good idea - readers can't be bothered with walls of text
  • ⚠️ Inconsistent image styles (one "clean" infographic, then a "hand-drawn" one) → breaks the art direction
  • ⚠️ Low-grade AI images (the typical free-model look)
  • ⚠️ Big text blocks, weak title ("Google first page complete 2026 guide") and no secondary keyword
  • ⚠️ "Return by Outrank tool" backlink added on the free trial

In short, a decent but not high-quality article, on a low-value keyword. In the test, the page ended up… deleted.

Outrank vs ChatSEO: automation vs intelligence

The core difference is simple. Outrank capitalized on a huge promise ("your SEO on autopilot") - great for marketing. ChatSEO chose to be precise and make users money first, then gradually became proactive (WordPress connection, recurring tasks rolling out).

When you ask ChatSEO "list the keywords I should target", the answer comes back in 2 seconds and looks like: SEO agency, freelance SEO consultant, SEO agency [city], e-commerce SEO agency, WordPress SEO consultantBusiness keywords where people want to pay a provider. Night and day versus the informational list returned by default.

Outrank user reviews (G2, Trustpilot)

Beyond our own test, here's what other users report:

  • G2: 4.2/5 (~187 reviews)
  • Trustpilot: 3.8/5 (~94 reviews)

Common positives: publishing 3× more content at the same headcount, backlinks sometimes from real domains with traffic (up to a dozen links in 30 days for some).

Common negatives:

  • Support and cancellation issues (in-app chat going silent, hard-to-cancel subscription - called a dark pattern by some)
  • Quality of automated backlinks (low authority, sometimes spammy; loses value above DR 25)
  • Publishing bugs (~22% of G2 reviews), articles sometimes basic or paraphrased
  • One user reports being contacted by competitors shortly after signing up (a privacy concern)

Should you choose Outrank? Our recommendation

✅ Outrank can work if…

  • You want to publish at volume without spending time, and you'll own the keyword steering
  • You already know SEO and can re-prompt the tool toward business-intent queries
  • You mainly want to feed a blog and lift a traffic curve

⏸️ Be cautious if…

  • You're a beginner and assume "fully automatic" = "business results" (the informational-keyword trap)
  • You care about your link profile (the backlink exchange is risky with Google)
  • You want SEO intelligence and decisions, not just page production

For that last case - most freelancers, SMBs and e-commerce owners - an AI SEO assistant like ChatSEO is a better fit: it tells you what to do and why, based on your real data.

FAQ – Outrank review

Is Outrank worth it in 2026?

If your goal is to publish content at scale and you can steer keyword research, Outrank's automation saves time. If you expect turnkey business results, the default informational keywords sharply limit ROI. The "autopilot" promise holds; the SEO intelligence, much less so.

Does Outrank really publish on its own?

Yes. Once the CMS is connected (WordPress, Webflow, Shopify…), Outrank writes and publishes articles automatically on schedule. That's its genuine strength.

There's a real risk. Getting links from real sites beats buying them, but Google is good at spotting link patterns between customers of the same platform. Several reviews flag low-authority links. Use with caution, especially on an established site.

What's the difference between Outrank and ChatSEO?

Outrank is an automation tool (it publishes at volume). ChatSEO is an intelligent SEO assistant connected to your Search Console and CMS that surfaces business-intent keywords, builds page plans with secondary keywords, and guides you like a consultant. Outrank targets the traffic curve; ChatSEO targets revenue.

Is there a free trial of Outrank?

Outrank offers a 3-day trial for $1 with 3 articles. ChatSEO, by contrast, offers a permanent free tier with no credit card.

Conclusion: Outrank, a great seller of automation

Outrank does exactly what it promises: it puts your blog on autopilot. Onboarding scrapes your context well, CMS publishing is smooth, and the volume is there. But behind the marketing promise, the thing that matters most - keyword selection - falls short: too much informational with no intent, occasionally off-topic, risky links and low-grade images.

If you want visible traffic, it can be enough. If you want revenue, you need SEO intelligence - which is exactly what ChatSEO is built for.

Three steps to compare in 15 minutes:

  1. Create a free ChatSEO account - no credit card
  2. Connect your Google Search Console - 2 clicks
  3. Ask: "list the business-intent keywords I should target" and compare with what Outrank returns

The bonus link gives you -20% if you upgrade.
